October Celebrations!

This has been a busy summer and early fall for me.  I was without an automobile for three months and used my mobile scooter to grocery shop.  It was doable and provided alot of relaxing time during trips there and back in which I meditated on life's perplexing questions.  I also spent many days at the coffee shop studying Schopenhauer's philosophy on my Kindle.  While I have not broken the code yet on the meaning of life there has been several insights which have brought me great joy.

I truly hope that you too have enjoyed the seasons and are going into winter time with a resolve to keep going forward despite the bad media and economic times.  It would be a tremendous lift for me if you would share your experiences here.  And it would be an opportunity to unload some of that pent up emotion and fears.

Have a most welcome and thankful winter...until again...I wish peace for you.

The First of September

On this, the first of September, it being my dad's birthday, I'd like to dedicate this space to my father, Ray Hubble.  He has been gone for many years but I miss him and I still today look around for his companionship and warm discussions.  A guy still needs a father no matter how old one may become.

Dad was the king of philosophy.  While he didn't create any system or even write down anything he had alot of questions about life.  He would question me about decisions I was trying to make and give good pointers about where I was missing an idea or something.  My dad, the pragmatist, to you this day is dedicated.  I love you dad.

Update On Did God Create the Universe?

Tonight on the Discovery Channel a new show started called, "Curiosity".  Tonight's premiere episode was, Did God Create the Universe?  Now this has been a perplexing question for centuries and so far the jury is still out.  It can be answered using faith and has been answered several hundred times by several hundred churches.  But can it be answered with reason?  The producers gave it a shot.  I didn't like their answer.  Why?  Basically, the conclusion was that the universe did in fact begin from nothing because there was nothing around to begin with since time didn't exist yet, thus God wasn't around either.  I am from the hills but even this answer seemed way off the mark and hardly scientific.  Of course the producers had scientists to make authoritative statements and the graphics were quite good.  All in all the question in my mind still stands as unanswered.  Care to give an answer?

It's been a long time...

I thought I'd have alot of posts here but it seems time is of short supply and I haven't taken care of this like I should.  I suppose that's another perplexing question.  I would rather write according to what others want me to write on.  So, please jot down a comment or question or two and I will comment.  Perhaps I will be frank and honest and we'll end up with a real hot discussion.

Until later then...

In the Beginning...

In the beginning is the word.  Human language is constructed by the mind of symbolic representations of the world into which one has been socialized and acculturated.  For any communication to be successful, the words of the sender and receiver must be familiar to both.  If you, the reader, do not speak, read, and write the English language there will be no communication in this Blog.  What a perplexing endeavor.
